According to a report, Universal Orlando has filed a new plan with the city of Orlando for its hotel development on its Wet ‘n Wild property and parking lot, located just south of its theme parks.

The plan states that the development will include about 4,000 guest rooms that will house either two or three new hotels. Additionally, it mentions that the hotels will be themed “to complement existing on-site Universal hotels”; they will feature “resort-style landscaping, resort amenities including retail and food and beverage outlets, resort-style pools and other resort features in keeping with the brands for each respective property.”

It’s expected that approximately 1,200 hotel rooms will be located on the actual Wet ‘n Wild water park lot and roughly 2,800 hotel rooms will be placed across the street where the Wet ‘n Wild parking lot is.

The Orlando Sentinel stated: “There will be three driveways, off Universal Boulevard and International Drive. The main entrance will be on Universal Boulevard south of International Drive.”

Universal Orlando will use a shuttle service to transport guests between the new hotels and the Universal Orlando theme parks, water theme park, and CityWalk.

News about this development originally appeared in late March of this year when documents filed with the city of Orlando outlined Universal’s plan to add 4,000 rooms, have a portion of a road vacated, and to construct three parking structures.

Since Comcast obtained Universal Parks & Resorts, Universal Orlando has seen new developments almost every year. In 2016, the resort officially opened an all-new hotel called Loews Sapphire Falls Resort. Next year, Universal Orlando will officially open Universal’s Aventura Hotel.
