This fall, the Purge will commence at Halloween Horror Nights at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando. The Purge is inspired by Universal’s popular franchise film series, created by director and writer James DeMonaco and produced by Blumhouse Productions and Platinum Dunes. During the Purge, you will attempt to survive a night where all crime is legal as part of the government’s annual event.

Universal Studios Hollywood will bring this popular franchise to the park as the Terror Tram: Survive the Purge. Once on-board the tram, guests will find themselves “at the mercy of affected vigilantes looking to annihilate people by the thousands.” Guests will need to survive the night from the sadistic felons looking to cleanse their soul.
“This year’s Terror Tram preys upon the vulnerability of our guests as they wander the darkness of our world-famous backlot surrounded by iconic sets and consider the theoretic possibility of a real Purge experience,” says John Murdy, Creative Director for Universal Studios Hollywood and Executive Producer for Halloween Horror Nights. “We consistently strive to raise the bar in delivering ideal scares, and the backlot at night infested with reprehensible characters is one way of truly scaring the living daylights out of our guests.”
Universal Orlando will be taking the Purge to the next level. Rather than using the franchise as a scarezone, this year, the Purge will be receiving its own haunted house. You’ll be hunted down by masked vigilantes who are looking to cleanse their soul in the annual Purge. You’ll either survive the night by fighting or fail and surrender.
“Just like in the film, guests will find themselves within arm’s reach of the most sadistic collection of killers imaginable,” says Michael Aiello, Director of Entertainment for Universal Orlando’s Creative Development. “Their only want and need is to express their right to Purge and Purge they will.”
